Topic: Custer’s Luck: Gettysburg to Little Bighorn

James Hessler will discuss a few of the escapades of George Armstrong Custer, before this flamboyant character’s demise at the Battle of Little Bighorn.

James Hessler has been a Licensed Battlefield Guide at Gettysburg National Military Park since 2003. He is the author of Sickles at Gettysburg (2009); co-authored Pickett’s Charge at Gettysburg: A Guide to the Most Famous Attack in American History (2015); and has written a number of articles for Gettysburg Magazine and America’s Civil War.

He was one of the primary content designers for, and appeared in, the Civil War Trust’s mobile Gettysburg app. In addition to being a member of Gettysburg’s Association of Licensed Battlefield Guides he is also a member of the Little Bighorn Associates and the Custer Battlefield Memorial Association.
