As is the tradition of the Loudoun County Civil War Roundtable, our December meeting will be a dinner. This year, we feature Peter Carlson, who will describe the many adventures of Junius Browne and Albert Richardson, two reporters who covered the Civil War for the New York Tribune until they were captured by Confederates. The two were jailed but escaped, aided by slaves and pro-Union bushwhackers. Carlson, the author of Junius and Albert’s Adventures in the Confederacy: A Civil War Odyssey, has worked for the Boston Herald American, People magazine, and The Washington Post, where he retired in 2008 after 22 years.
