Arnold Grove Cemetery Project

The dedication ceremony for Eagle Scout Jack Craig’s Arnold Grove Cemetery Project at Hillsboro United Methodist Church is this Saturday, May the 11th at 11:00 am. Stats for this remarkable project to identify/restore the grave sites of all the Veterans buried there include:

28 volunteers Nov 11 and 25 on April 13 from the SCV and Troop 572

More than 426 volunteer hours
Used five tons of gravel for headstone foundations
Used more than 700 lbs of concrete to secure War Markers
Removed two ton of field rock
20 new War Markers purchased/installed and reinstalled two
2 new headstones applied for from V.A. and installed

Began with 13 Civil War and one 1812 known veterans, ended with finding 22: 15 Civil War, six War of 1812 and one Revolutionary War Veteran.

Just an incredible amount of work done, a great tribute to all of those who served in our early Nation’s wars, a wealth of information for local historians. RSVPs for the ceremony are desired.
