Sunday, June 24, 5:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m.
Historic Avenel
5722 John Marshall Highway
The Plains, VA 20198

Enjoy a casual afternoon at Avenel, the overnight stop of General Robert E. Lee on his way to the Second Battle of Manassas.  Join us for an afternoon of wine and cheese while listening to the story of the Beverley and Dulany family’s eye-witness to history through the diary of Ida Dulany, In the Shadow of the Enemy, and Beverley Family memoires. Walk where General Stonewall Jackson marched his men across the Avenel property in the sight of Thoroughfare Gap.

Copies of the Dulany diary will be available for purchase. The editors of the diary will also be on hand to talk to participants and sign the book.

Tickets: $65 for MHAA members, $75 for non-members.
